*Animism: The belief that inanimate objects and the phenomena of nature are endowed with personal life or a living soul.

*Spiritism, or French spiritualism, is based on books written by French educator Hypolite Léon Denizard Rivail under the pseudonym Allan Kardec reporting séances in which he observed a series of phenomena that could be only attributed to incorporeal intelligence (spirits).
